Several weeks ago we had the privilege of featuring photographer Charley Seavey on Instagram. Here’s how Charley responded to our brief interview.
Describe yourself in one sentence
Old guy with a camera and curiosity.
When did you first get into photography?
When I was a kid. My first camera must have been at age 10-12. Things got serious in the Army.
What’s your favorite travel destination and why?
Some place I haven’t been before. Of the places I’ve been, probably Yosemite, and Rockport, Mass.
What’s the hardest thing you’ve ever done while traveling?
Define hard. Pay off the credit card? Realizing I was not going to make it to the top of Multnomah Falls?
What’s the most beautiful thing you’ve seen while traveling?
How much time do we have here? Mist on Half Dome. Sunrise at the Grand Canyon. Or maybe it was sunset. Early morning on the Southwest Chief crossing Kansas. The list goes on.
What locale would you never return to?
Hmm. Probably a lot of them, because there are so many new ones to see. And it’s not as if I am still young.
Is there anything else you want people to know about you?
I think beauty is everywhere. You just have to look at things the right way, and then you have it.
